A CLOSER LOOK

Connect calling service to the phone system you choose.

SIP trunking is the connectivity layer for a compatible business PBX. The PBX handles your internal calling behavior; the trunk connects it to outside callers. Separating these roles makes it easier to understand what needs configuring, which provider is responsible for an issue, and what should be tested before a cutover.

Retain a compatible PBX

Review a carrier change while keeping a phone system that still meets your operational needs. Compatibility and configuration must be checked before service is ordered.

Support a new PBX deployment

Plan the calling connection alongside the new system rather than leaving number routing and external-call testing until the end of the installation.

Revisit calling capacity

Use actual concurrent-call needs and business calling patterns to shape the proposal. A staff count alone does not describe how many calls need to occur at once.

PLAN YOUR NEXT STEP

What to discuss with TSN

Share the PBX make and version, number inventory, recent carrier records, expected simultaneous calls, and network details. Identify inbound and outbound calling tests, number-transfer responsibilities, and a cutover contact. Specialty services such as fax, alarms, or door phones should be reviewed individually.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Good questions. Clear answers.

Does SIP trunking replace our PBX?

No. This service supplies calling connectivity for a compatible system. PBX software, handsets, internal call flows, and ongoing system administration need to be accounted for separately in the agreed scope.

What happens before numbers move?

The project should confirm transfer eligibility and records, configure routing, test the agreed calling functions, and establish a cutover plan. Transfer timing is confirmed through the carrier process.
